Well if you seek happiness in 30 material things, then you can never be happy at all. I truly believe that true happiness comes from experience rather than things.
Traveling, trekking, walking or even playing a sport can give you true joy. Material things can only give you temporary happiness which fades away pretty quickly .
I truly feel alive when I am traveling or trekking. That feeling when your heart is pumping while the cold wind coming from the mountains kisses your face in the presence of a roaring river nearby .
And your eyes passes the message of the greenery around directly to your soul. You are nothing but a speck of the beautiful creation. Your heart , mind and soul truly get aligned to feel that moment of happiness.
No material things can give you that divine happiness.
I really like to trek or hike in the shelter of nature. Apart from this, I love to read and write (mostly blogging).
Sometimes I play guitar and sing too, this was my favourite hobby but as time passed I became distracted towards other hobbies and it became a passive hobby.
The real purpose of these habits or hobbies is to make you feel alive so that life feels like a gift and not a burden. It really makes you live and enjoy the present moment without the worries of the past and future.
So just like me, keep yourself busy by doing something you love most and if you are bored with one , try something else but never sit idle in your free time.
There is no option for me to listen to any kind of music while working. But while writing or blogging I love to listen to the soundtracks.
My favourite musicians when it comes to soundtracks are Hans Zimmer who produced heart touching score for the movies like Interstellar, inception and dark knight, Hildur guðnadóttir for Joker ,Ramin Djawadi for Game of thrones and Scott Buckley (you can find his music on YouTube and in many of my long form videos).
These soundtracks strike a different chord with you and really touch your soul. If you are writing poetry or an emotional piece then these soundtracks can really help as your thoughts overflow when you are listening to one.
After crossing Afarwat peak of almost 5000 m altitude, we reached Alpathar lake.
The secret of happiness is something to do. And if that job is something you love most, you lose track of time.
From school timings to office hours, from healing physical wounds to recovering from personal loss, from day-night to seasons, humankind is governed by time. In fact such is the law of our universe that without time our existence would not have been possible.
But still, we are so scared of time. We are so afraid of the end that we hardly enjoy the rest of the time. To be honest this mess is not given by time itself but it is something which we have created . Why do we panic when we run behind time, purely because we wasted our present, our ‘Now’.
We wasted our ‘Now’ by doing nothing or by worrying about our past regrets and future worries. But there is a way out of this mess.
Do something which you love most, get lost in that hobby, job or work . Create that obsession which makes you blind to the negativities of past and future. This will make you truly present in the ‘Now’ as time ceases to exist in that moment, truly a happy moment.
For me , when I am hiking or trekking in the mountains , I lose track of time. My entire focus is on the treacherous trail and when I am tired I am rewarded with the beauty of the surroundings. Cold icy winds, snow laden mighty mountains, the wilderness of the terrain make me lost in the ‘Now’.
Also when I am blogging, I lose track of time. Yes, sometimes I lose my words too, but then I shift to reading.
In this way ,if you keep yourself busy and not wasting your present then you can at least eliminate most of the negativity if not being truly happy.
Don’t know why it feels more than before , am I running out of time?
When you were a kid you hardly cared about time. You were engrossed in something or in some thoughts that you hardly felt anything passing. Time ran so slow that it felt like you have the power to dictate time.
Then you started growing and slowly it seemed that the time was running quickly and has almost surpassed you.
And Now, you are far behind it and slowly losing hope of ever going to catch up with it. Maybe there is a scientific theory behind this feeling but surely all our worries, all are disappointments have a great deal of time’ s involvement.
What I think I can do to tackle this feeling is to keep myself busy in one or the other thing. This will surely stop me from worrying about the past or future and keep me in the ‘Now’
It’s difficult to be consistent with this, but you have nothing else but this to save yourself .
Calmness is not a weakness but a superpower to stay strong in the toughest of conditions. It makes you think clearly amidst a cacophony of noises and react in the most effective way.
Calmness gives you strength in the moments of disaster and grief. It gives you control over your heart and mind ,and prevents you from reacting in an erratic manner.
So cultivate this habit of pausing before reacting and detaching yourself from all the disturbing noises of the world.
