Procrastination, an unavoidable Curse

Almost all of us are suffering with this disease called as procrastination. No matter how hard we try we can’t help ourselves to get rid of this disease , yes ,it should be called as a disease. It’s like the most dominating code embedded in our memory.

What is the biggest mistake you make in life? Buddha replied- The biggest mistake you make in life is when you think you have time.

It’s like we delay our most precious work and leave it in the mercy of time. And after sometime we are punished by it. The situation after this becomes so frustrating That our regrets almost kill us.

The funny part is that we know we are doing it wrong but still we can’t help ourselves. It’s like we become slaves of this very tricky phenomenon. Writers are plagued by this, dreamers are crippled by this and it’s tough to get out of this.

Is there any way to get rid of procrastination?

The first step towards this is to know that only ‘Now’ is real and your past or future is imaginary. You can’t control your past and future but you have all the opportunities to make your present as fulfilling as possible.

Everything you do now will automatically affect your future and if you will allow your past to affect your present then it will always give you disappointment and negative vibes.

Laziness is a sleeping giant that eats your precious future, stay away from this ,otherwise you are going to become mad (affects your mental health) in the near future. You can get rid of this with discipline, waking up early in the morning and engaging in half an hour of workout, can create a perfect setup for a successful day. Making this as your daily goal can work wonders for your overall goal.

You are born to follow the path of Karma, your Karma to make a positive change in this world. It starts with you and ends with the happiness of the people around you. Your existence is precious so not only follow your Karma but also worship it .

Even a small change made by you can do miracles for the world, so never ever think that your work is insignificant.

Just do it….

Well said Piyush. Though diligent in most aspects of life, I am guilty of putting off a few things. Your last 3 words is what one needs to practice, to come out of the procrastination loop.🙂

Don’t forget the third Noble Truth, cessation. The path of karma is engendered by the process of grasping onto experience (explained in the Second Noble Truth). This occurs in meditation, for example (which is a training process helpful in perceiving such matters with clarity) every time thoughts arise and we immediately identify with them. In this way karma is like a wind buffeting us around every which way. However by learning to become aware of the underlying nature of mind, which like the ocean is unaffected by any surface turbulence in the form of waves, foam, spray or powerful currents, karma caused by such fixations self-relaxes until it has no effect, any more than wind blowing powerfully effects the nature of the sky.

Wonderful post and a great time for it. I know I have days when I am guilty of this. I do believe in Karma too by the way. Thank you for this lovely post. We have started a very hard workout process again that we can do together. It is something that makes us feel like we have done something really good for our bodies however. Have a blessed day. ❤️🤗🦋

I don’t know that I’d put laziness and procrastination together. Each serves a purpose. Allowing ourselves to be lazy today can “recharge our batteries” for tomorrow, just like procrastination can give us the time to think through what we need to do. Still, like you said, each can also become disease and prevent us from now. Wow. You gave me lots to think about this morning.

I love where you say it starts with us and ends with the happiness of those around us. I believe we can affect the happiness of others even in very small ways.

    You said it mouthful
Procrastination is the thief of time. I believe we would achieve if we just do the things we are supposed to do on time
